When one watches the news, which I don’t, or browses through online posts, newsreels, podcasts and videos of various alternative news sites, it looks like humanity is lost in animosity, intolerance, shouting matches, killing each other and other low vibrational activities. We tend to forget that these are very selective incidences of sensationalism that are put out to pull in viewers giving us the impression that this is the general state that everybody is in. It is not so at all in the real world as I was happy to witness recently.
I and some family members had to fly to Atlanta and back a few days ago. Atlanta is one of the largest airports in the United States. Thus we saw thousands of people traveling and working there. Out of these thousands of people we could count on two hands the people who were wearing a mask. That was very encouraging. What really touched us though was the kindness and willingness of passengers to help each other.
Our flight was completely full. A lady who had a seat in the front part of economy couldn’t find a place in an overhead bin near her seat to store her hand luggage. The flight attendant directed her to a bin in the back of economy where there still was some room. She told him that she only had twenty minutes to make her connection. Anybody who ever flew in a full plane will know, that once the engines shut down after landing, everybody gets up, stands in the aisle of the plane waiting to get out. There is no way anybody could walk to the back of the plane to fetch their hand luggage out of an overhead bin. This would mean the lady would have to wait until the plane emptied out completely before she would be able to go get her luggage out. This would make it impossible for her to make her connection. Another passenger heard her dilemma and offered her the space of her overhead bin and swapped bags as she was under no time pressure to get off the plane. Once the plane landed, passengers in general assisted each other getting down their bags from overhead, helping each other into jackets and coats and waiting for everyone in the seats in front to be able to get into the aisle, get their bag and leave the plane. There was no shouting, impatience, tussle or anything like that. People genuinely cared about each other, exchanged a kind word or just a smile. The energy on that flight was upbeat, calm and one of cooperation as we were all in the same “boat” so to speak.
It was heartwarming to see and experience this interaction among total strangers and I thought humanity has a chance. When we open our hearts and see our fellow humans as parts of the big Oneness/Consciousness experiencing their journey through life, we develop empathy for each other and we can make this world a paradise. On this Thanksgiving Day we can reflect on things in our life we are grateful for. Gratitude opens our heart from whence comes love and understanding. It really is not difficult, complicated, expensive or time consuming. We can all do that.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
